Here’s How Real Couples Entertained Their Guests At The Wedding

Entertainment, Planning & Advice

I just love looking at real wedding stories! You get a great glimpse into the choices real couples have made. It’s like a real life Pinterest board, with all the gorgeous photos to show off the style, theme, flowers, colours and more. It’s also a brilliant way to see how real couples entertained their guests at the wedding and what worked well!

Take a peek at these real wedding features from our blog (we post a new one each week) and see how these couples entertained their guests at the wedding. You may just get a few creative ideas.

Bingo

To entertain their guests, they had Jenny Doyle sing during the ceremony and at the drinks reception. They then had Panic Animal as their band and DJ.

Instead of favours, they did something different as a nod to their mothers. They played bingo after the meal, which included giving out vouchers for the hotels and duds as prizes.

Singing chef

They had a singing chef for entertainment as dessert was being served and the guests loved it. It got everyone over the food slump and ready to dance and in the mood to party for the night! They also had a brilliant band who kept everyone on the floor all night.

For favours, they got scratch cards and wrapped them up in small cards.

Photo booth

It was really important to Ross and Wallis that their guests enjoyed every part of the day. They were mindful of what they would do when the happy couple was out getting photos taking.

So during the reception they had Niall O’Loughlin doing caricatures, which the guests loved.

For their guest book, they had a painting of a tree with no leaves and, using finger paint, guests filled up the tree with their fingerprints forming the leaves.

For place names, they used photos with them with each of their guests, along with a personalised note for each person. Each guest also received a glass vial of loose-leaf tea and a chocolate.

For evening entertainment, they had Entourage Wedding Band followed by their DJ, who kept everyone on the dance floor all night long.

Alongside all of this, they had a photo booth supplied by DK Photography, to keep their guests entertained with a huge selection of props. This was a real hit as it printed passport sized photos for the guests to take home. All of these photos were also emailed to Wallis and Ross to enjoy separately too.

Magician and mind reader

Catherine and Damien went big on entertaining their guests! Here’s what they planned:

The wedding band, Pat Fitz Band, got the dance floor buzzing all night long. Paudie Walsh then kept the energy high as the wedding DJ!

“To add an extra touch of fun to our drinks reception, we invited the mind-blowing Oisin Foley, a magician and mind reader, to entertain our guests. He is such a talent.”

And then came the big surprise: the singing waiters, Love Shack, who had everyone fooled with their brilliant act.

“With one waitress dramatically collapsing to the floor and the other hilariously addressing me by the wrong name, they had everyone in stitches before bursting into song, getting every single person up on their feet. It was an unforgettable highlight of the evening that had everyone talking.”

They chose to forgo traditional wedding favours and instead made a donation to the Irish Cancer Society.

“This was in memory of Damien’s lovely aunt in law, my uncle who is in palliative care, and my bridesmaid and best friend, Clio, who bravely battled this horrible disease and thankfully overcame it. With cards from the Cancer Society placed on each table, it was our way of honouring those we have lost and supporting everyone affected by cancer.”

An amazing band

Dancing and hosting an amazing celebration was a big priority for this wedding.

“We chose the band called Blessed and they were amazing. They were so good, we danced all night.”

Singing waiters

To entertain their guests they arranged a selfie mirror, an audio guestbook where guests could leave voice messages and Singers Secreto who came out just after dessert.

“He is dressed up as a waiter who then falls over to try fool people, he then proceeds to sing, it was brilliant, really got the crowd going. We had a band and DJ, “A few good men” who were absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t recommend them enough, the dance floor was filled the whole night.”

Jager bomb cart

To entertain their guests, Grainne and Michael arranged for Manila Strings to entertain their guest during the reception and meal. They went around to each table and played whatever song the table requested, getting the whole place rocking! The wedding band, Flog The Dog, got the party going! Grainne and Michael love Jager Bombs so they had a Jager Bomb cart in honour of their favourite shot.

Foam and glow sticks

They gifted all their guests a hangover recovery kit with the usual essentials in them, minus any medication or chewing gum. They also included some funky glasses and later brought out the foam glow sticks, which were a huge hit! The dance floor was full all night, thanks to their band and DJ, After Dark, who really knew how to keep people up having fun.
