Say hello to Tara and David! Their modern love story began on Facebook and continued with a Christmas proposal in 2016. Fast forward to their beautiful blush pink and rose gold wedding!

Couple: Tara & David
Engagement length: 7 years
Wedding date: 2024-09-07
Wedding location: Dunboyne Castle Co.Meath
Photographer: DMC Photography

David and Tara’s love story began on Facebook! Tara says, “I was in his sister’s class so he had seen me tagged on her page and added me and then I sent the first message.”

They got engaged on Christmas 2016, while Tara was heavily pregnant with their daughter.

“We were at David’s mam and dad’s and he had told me he had a present for me at their house. I was sitting on the sofa and David’s mam Lisa came in and said ‘close the curtains’ and she had her big camera in her hand so I had an idea of what was about to happen. David came in got down on one knee and asked would I marry him, I just cried and said yes ha.”

Tara wore a beautiful Ivory wedding dress by Essence of Australia and her shoes were Lipsy. David wore a lovely cream suit jacket with navy trousers, tie, a white shirt and brown shoes.

The bridesmaids wore a beautiful blush pink dress with rose gold shoes and jewellery. The groomsmen and both the dads wore navy suits with a similar colour tie to the bridesmaid dresses and brown shoes. Tara’s flower girls (their daughters) wore a beautiful white dress with flowers on the top, white tulle at the bottom and white shoes with flowers and a lovely white satin bow around the waist of the dress. The ring bearer wore a beautiful Ivory dress with some flower details at the front and sparkly Ivory shoes that also had flowers.

They describe their wedding ceremony as beautiful!

“We did not do a religious ceremony as it’s what we both wanted but it was full of lots of love and laughter.”

“We chose Dunboyne Castle as our venue. When we first booked our wedding we had booked a few appointments with different venues. Dunboyne was the very first one we went to see and after we had seen it we just knew this was the place we wanted to have our special day in.”

The wedding was beautifully captured by David of DMC Photography.

“Our photographer David was just amazing! When we first spoke with him he had told us he had done weddings at Dunboyne before so we were happy to go with him as he knew the ground and the good places to get great snaps. When he arrived on the morning none of us were feeling anxious or nervous that he was in the room getting pictures of us getting  ready. We had such a good laugh with David, it made everything feel much calmer. He sent us a little sneak peak of some photos 2 days after the wedding and the way they were presented on a little slide show with music in the background, it was so nice to look back at the most special day.”

“We decided not to do wedding favours as we felt there was something else we could spend the money on. We did not get a band, we went for a DJ only so the hotel played music on Spotify while we were waiting on the DJ to arrive.”

Tara’s favourite memory from the day is walking down the aisle with her dad, towards her new husband.

“I smiled all the way down and could not take the smile off my face. It was the most special day of my life a day I will never forget.”

Newlyweds give brilliant advice for other couples:

“My advice would be to just do what you both want. Just because someone got all this fancy decor etc doesn’t mean you have to, it’s your wedding day so do what makes you both happy, you can’t please everyone. I’m so happy we did what we wanted because it was our day and it was the most perfect day for us.”
