Autumn Wedding Goals: Red, Orange, Rust and Wood

Articles, Real Weddings

Say hello to Deirdre and Keith! They got married in Autumn last year at Barberstown Castle. Because of the time of year, they leaned into the season and embraced all the Autumn colours – red, orange, rust and wood!

Deirdre and Keith had their very first date in Harry’s on the Green in Dublin. Their engagement was feigned as a weekend lunch in Barberstown Castle.

“We went for a ‘short walk’ just before sitting down and ended up getting engaged at the bandstand under the willow tree. Both of our families met us and we got celebratory lunch straight after!”

“We wanted rustic autumnal colours to suit our castle venue and the autumn season. We had a lot of reds, oranges, rusts and wood colours throughout.”

Deirdre wore an off the shoulder, sparkly ivory dress with a tight bodice and an a-line skirt. Pieces of jewellery from both of the mothers and had a low ponytail as her hairstyle.
Keith wore a light blue suit jacket, navy trousers and brown shoes. He wore a decorative light navy tie to complement the autumnal colours and the wedding party.

They had their two sisters as bridesmaids, and gave them the base colour of rust and allowed them to choose dresses that best suited them and that they felt comfortable in.
The groomsmen wore navy suits and rust ties to bring the colours together.

“Our ceremony was held in Lady Chapel Church which was ten minutes from our reception. We wanted a relaxed, inclusive and intimate atmosphere to our church wedding. Our Priest took the time to get to know us and our ceremony was heightened by gorgeous harp music from Rachel Reid. We passed our rings to our immediate families for them to hold before we exchanged them and our Godmothers both read during the ceremony.”

Barberstown Castle is a beautiful, timeless and magical place.”

Deirdre and Keith loved the food and just how professional and detail-focused the staff are. They loved the reception room from the moment they viewed it and it absolutely wowed them and their guests on the day.

The Big Day was beautifully captured by Marcin and Marta of M and M Photography.

“They were kind, fun, caring and so professional from the moment we first chatted to them. We met in person for the first time when they offered us an engagement photo shoot in Barberstown and they listened to all of our ideas for the day and matched them seamlessly. They have an incredible talent for spotting detail, they blended seamlessly into our day and our photos were incredible. We would recommend them both so so highly.”

They wanted to invest in good music to ensure their guests enjoyed the evening.

“We had seen Pink Champagne perfom at another wedding and we knew they would be a great choice. Our guests loved them and the dance floor was never empty!”

They also supported a small Irish business called I Love Wax Seals and asked them to make stickers saying ‘we tied the knot, we hope you win the jackpot’ and wrapped scratch cards in vellum paper to give to each guest. Everyone from the children to the adults enjoyed scratching them off.

I think one of our joint favourite memories was sitting at the table just before the meal and looking out at all of our friends and family and feeling very grateful that so many people had come together to celebrate with us!”

We always ask newlyweds for their best wedding planning advice:

“Don’t worry about the small details that seem huge during the planning process. Place focus on the parts that really matter and enjoy every second of the build up and the day!!”
